Best restaurents around the world – part 2

Best restaurents around the world

A few weeks ago I shared 5 of my top favorite spots around the world, some are fast food, others are romantic dinner spots … If you missed them you can check them out here Best restaurants around the world.

Here are 5 more places from around the world that are definitely worth pinning on your wishlist.

Matsusakagyu Yakiniku

You can’t be in Osaka and not go for a meal at Matsusakagyu Yakiniku M, Hozenji Yokocho restaurant!

You may not be able to pronounce the name fluently but trust me the food is so easy to flow to your mouth.

This is where you can find some of the finest Wagyu beef in Japan, the meat is so tender it melts in your mouth!

I’m not surprised since the cows get daily massages and drink beer while they are reared … Talk about living it up while you’re still alive.

The ambiance in the restaurant is lovely, you get to sit in private booths with built-in grill tables, the staff are very friendly and welcoming and would spend as much time with you to help you decide what’s the best meat for you to order.

It is a place that will not disappoint.

L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele

I have two places to recommend here in Naples, the first is a traditional family-owned pizza place.

Once you eat here Pizza will never be the same to you ever again! L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele is a small unassuming place on a small street in Naples, that also served as a filming location for Eat, Love, Pray.

At peak times be prepared to queue, so head there as early as you can. The Margherita with extra cheese is a dream… It felt I was having an affair with the pizza slice as I was eating it.

Seriously no words can do it justice.

If you are in Naples, you should eat there, if you don’t manage to eat there, lie to me and tell me you did – it’s just a crime not to.

Il comandante

The second place I would recommend is Il comandante, a one Michelin star restaurant at the top of Romeo hotel on Naples waterside.

The restaurant only serves dinner, and the menu only holds three options, a 3 course, a 6 course, or an 8-course meal of the chef’s surprise creations.

I must say it was a journey of culinary exploration for me. We went for the 6-course meal, and it was one pleasant surprise after another … from cheese soup with a baked egg to a thyroid gland to duck to seafood to classic Italian risotto, etc. all cooked in a superb way, with the dimmed restaurant lighting the view of the marina it all just adds another dimension to the food… definitely, an experience to savor and one to go back to.

p.s You can ask for certain items not to be included in the dishes if you don’t eat them or are allergic.

When in Bali, stay in Alila. Simples.

Alila is a 5-star luxury hotel and villas resort where you can choose to stay in a double bedroom or in a private villa with a private pool or anything in between. I will share more about my stay there on my hotel reviews but for now, let’s dive into the food.

The breakfast is an all-you-can-eat a la carte menu with fresh bakery, fresh smoothies made with island greens and fruits, cooked or cold options are available, all are super lush and served with a big smile.

The lunch and dinner menus are extensive and reflect the island’s culture and cuisine. All ingredients are fresh and homegrown. They host amazing grills, buffets, a la carte and even give you the opportunity to go fishing for your own meal and have it cooked to your liking!

It was an enchanting stay; the food defiantly added a good thick layer of happiness on top of all the magic that Alila gave me.

Moor Hall

Special occasion or simply treating yourself, Moor Hall will not let you down.

Decorated with two Michelin stars, a glass front overlooking a lake, and five acres of land surrounding the establishment; the place is both a culinary and an architectural delight. They strive to give you the best dining experience possible.

The food was perfection, the service was like no other and the dining experience was exceptional but what really won my heart was their cheese room. Don’t miss out on visiting the cheese room and selecting your cheeseboard, the meal wouldn’t be complete without it!

Jumeirah Frankfurt Hotel

Jumeirah Frankfurt Hotel

I traveled along the Romantic Road in Bavaria Germany, my travel story on that trip is coming out soon.

I landed in Frankfurt and traveled from there to Wuzburg the first stop along the Romantic Road.

While in Frankfurt I simply couldn’t miss out on the opportunity of staying at the Jumeirah Frankfurt Hotel.  A 5-star lush luxury hotel part of the Jumeirah hotels chain.

Since I’ve recently done my Jumeriah Beacon training, which is a free short course I can access, learning about all the luxury Jumeriah resorts around the world, I knew what their gem hotel in Frankfurt had to offer, and I would have been mad to miss out on experiencing a stay there.

It’s a 5-star hotel but it’s not your ordinary 5-star hotel, Jumeirah Frankfurt is a lavish hotel of urban sophistication in the heart of Frankfurt. One of the tallest buildings in the heart of the city, so when you are promised a panoramic view, you get don’t just get a panoramic view, you get the view of a whole city at your toes!

The only hotel in the city that can offer a view of the drop-dead gorgeous Frankfurt skyline, view of the mountains in the distance, and the lush urban sunset.

Each room is decorated with original artwork. Your breakfast is served with golden honey from their own skyline beehives, so are the drinks at the bar, just ask the bartender for their latest cocktail or mocktail. Their restaurants offer signature dining that you can request to be delivered to the comfort of your room.

The hotel has its renowned Talise spa, I haven’t tried it personally (due to COVID restrictions) but from the service that I’ve had and seen in the hotel, I can trust it would deliver well on its promise of being an oasis of tranquility. There’s also a top-notch fitness center, that you can use to burn off the calories from all of the gorgeous food you’ll be having.

The hotel has a superb location right in the heart of the city and right next door to its bustling shopping district, you’ll never be too far from shopping, dining, or an exploring experience.

Yes, all of that comes with a hefty price tag, but I won’t be a savvy traveler if I didn’t have a way up my sleeve to circumvent that! I booked a deluxe room, however to my pleasure that was upgraded on my arrival to a panoramic suite #sograteful.

Do you know that big glass corner office with an amazing view that they keep showing in American movies, the one that almost everyone in the company wants to have? Well, the suite I got was miles bigger and better than that!

A corner suite with windows floor to ceiling on almost two of its sides giving you the feel of you walking on a ledge with the whole city under your feet… The bed was situated in a way that you’d go to sleep above the city and wake up with the sun rising over it.

The bathroom, well that was nearly the size of my flat! You’d walk in and there’s a dressing wardrobe, a rainforest shower, his and her illuminating marble sinks, a TV built in the mirror, another massive mirror, the bathtub, and a separate toilet. You’d walk in the bathroom from the bedside and come out of it from the living side of the room… Spectacular design!

Oh, yes the toiletries were from aromatherapy!

Two TVs, because one apparently wasn’t enough, one above the bed and another in the living area. A very pretty glass desk with a lush suede chair and a Jumeirah iPad, a minibar, a Nespresso machine, and a massive original piece of art decorated the rest of the suite. Oh, and you get signature design slippers to keep your toes toasty.

On one of the evenings of my stay, the general manager of the hotel led a private skyline tour, after having drinks at the bar.

The lovely melt in your mouth swiss chocolates and beautiful fresh flowers you see up there were a complimentary surprise from the front desk to welcome my arrival.

The Jumeirah hotels and resorts chain is spread across the world… I do have my eye on all of them and I’ll be sampling them very soon, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Maldives, Bali, Bahrain, Italy, London, Mallorca, and many more.

Alnwick in Northumberland Quirky Staycation

Alnwick in Northumberland Quirky Staycation

Looking for quirky stays in the UK? Well, this one might be right up your alley.

Going to Alnwick in Northumberland was like stepping back into an age of British quintessential-ness combined with some modern features… I’m sure this place would capture your heart.

Why visit Alnwick in Northumberland?

Northumberland is home to more castles than any other British county.

Alnwick Castle is often referred to as ‘Windsor of the North’ and is one of the most iconic ones.

The filming of Harry Potter and the philosopher’s stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets have taken place at the Alnwick Castle and it’s certainly a place to hit if you haven’t yet had your broomstick training or looking for a refresher course.

Not a fan of castles? No problem, head to the Alnwick gardens, whether you are a Harry Potter fan or not it will have something for you.

They have a poison garden that showcases many poisonous and medicinal plants with tales of their use over time in healing or killing people.

The gardens are lovely for a stroll, a picnic, or some Instagram-able shots.

You’ll need to prebook your tickets for both of those attractions online ahead of your visit.

Other attractions to visit:

Bailiffgate Museum, home to many exhibits and heritage pieces that showcases the history of Alnwick and Northumberland.

Howick Hall Gardens; the birth place of Earl Grey tea.

Brizlee tower; where you can catch a panoramic view of the surrounding estates.

Alnmouth giant sandy beach.

Finally, since Alnwick is one of the least populated regions in England; it is one of the best towns to visit for stargazing. Head to Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, a 562 Sq mile zone free of light pollution, the largest of its kind in Europe.

Where to stay in Alnwick?

I stayed at the White Swan and would be staying there again when I visit Alnwick in Northumberland again.

A beautiful 300-year-old baroque coaching inn that happens to be 3 minutes walking distance away from the Alnwick Castle and Gardens (talk about a convenient location).

One of its most beautiful features is the dining room that is the exact same dining room the Olympic ship had.

When Olympic (Titanic’s sister ship) was retired the dining room was auctioned and the owner of the White Swan purchased it and brought it back to the hotel and had it installed there… When you walk into that dining room you get transported to the charm and elegance of that era.

The wood paneling, the stained glass windows, mirrors, and carved ceilings from the transatlantic ocean liner Olympic, Titanic’s near-identical sister ship will definitely get you feeling the good feels.

Other places to stay at:

The Hog’s Head Inn, The Black Swan, The Cookie Jar, and The Dirty Bottles Inn all capture the area’s charm and will add quirkiness to your stay.

Where to eat in Alnwick?

I personally recommend dining at the Olympic suit at The White Swan. You will need to make a reservation ahead of time even if you are a hotel resident, it does get booked up pretty quick.

The Dirty Bottles Inn is another place that I would recommend, the myth has it that the owner was placing the bottle out in the window as a form of advertisement when a spell fell upon him and he died. The whispers are that the bottles are cursed and whoever touches them will meet his demise.

Since then they have remained in the windows untouched for over 200 years … I am not sure how deadly the bottles are but I can tell you that the food is to die for!

Check out the menu ahead of time for some special items that need a 48-hour request. You won’t be disappointed.

If you are looking for a really special and super quirky place to dine at trying the Treehouse restaurant at the Alnwick Gardens. A treetop diner with branches coming through the floor, ropy bridges, and a cozy log fire. Whether it is afternoon tea, a meal, or a special event the venue will not disappoint.
